Launched the new call of Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking

The new call of the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen programme of the Joint Technology initiative of fuel cells and hydrogen (FCH JU) has been published last 15 of January.

Structured, as usual in previous calls, have four distinct areas:

  • Transport
  • Energy
  • General activities
  • Horizontal activities

The call is endowed with 80.8 million Euros and closes the next 23 April.

In the area of transport there are five topics of which it would be worth mentioning the scaling-up and demonstration of Multi MW fuel cells in ships.

This time the Energy area raises eight interesting topics of which it would be worth highlighting the combination of electrolyzers in recharging installations with cogeneration systems, the development of multimegawatt High temperature Electrolyzers, in the energy-intensive industry, the Hydrogen injection in high pressure gas networks and the development of Mini-Systems of cogeneration based on fuel cells of high temperature polymers.

In the area of general activities a single topic is raised with the idea of the development of the “hydrogen Valley”, with a scope of integrated solution of several uses in a future approach development of the concept of hydrogen economy.

In the cross cutting section highlight the opportunity to demonstrate the potentiality of the incorporation of hydrogen mixtures into the domestic and commercial natural gas networks.

The concern for high temperature electrolyzers, the options for develop High temperature polymer fuel cells (HTPEMFCs) and the hydrogen admixtures at all levels of use in gas networks clearly mark the guideline in this call.
